Selection Criteria
  1. Top 25% of high school graduating class.
  2. ACT minimum composite score of 25 or SAT minimum total score in Math and Evidence-Based Reading & Writing of 1200.
  3. Strong record of leadership in activities for school, community, clubs, service organizations, etc.
  4. Strong interest in developing personal leadership potential.
  5. Commitment to attend and participate in all class sessions throughout the year.

High School Extracurricular Involvement

  1. List specific school related leadership roles held during high school. (i.e. Student Government: President & Secretary, Sports Team: Captain)

  2. List specific leadership roles held in non-school related activities. (i.e. Boys and Girls Club: Team Leader, Youth Group: Leader)

  3. List any awards or honors received during high school, both academic and non-academic. (i.e. National Honor Society, Varsity Sport Team Letters, Scholarships)

    Please keep your responses to the following questions as brief as possible, while maintaining quality, breadth, and depth. Concise answers show us that you have reflected on your experiences and understand the power of the phrase "less is more."

  4. Name a cause that you are passionate about and describe how your leadership has helped advance this cause.

  5. In your own words, discuss what leadership means to you.

  6. Highlight your top three leadership qualities and describe how you have used them to bring about positive change in your school, community, and/or organizations in which you have been involved.

By submitting this application for the Presidents Leadership Class, I hereby grant permission for Iowa State University to release my academic records, transcript data from High School and/ or College (including dual courses, classes from Junior College and University grades), and demographic information to the Office of the President for the purpose of evaluating applications for the President's Leadership Class.
